2009 Work Session M1/M2

August 24, 2009. MS 501 has been slid northward on the rails to its new position and the winch cable has been slackened. The car will now be lowered onto pier block and ties. The front of MHC’s skid-steer may be seen in the lower left of the photo. The boom above the tines was used to move the rails from one car to the next. As 22 feet of 55-pound rail weighs about 400 pounds, the assistance of the skid steer was greatly appreciated for moving the rails. Photo by Roger Breeding.
